Cape Agulhas Tour

The most southern tip of Africa

This tour will take the full day (8 hours).

Cape Agulhas - the southernmost point of Africa

Geographic Significance

Cape Agulhas is the official meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, and the southernmost tip of the African continent.

Name Origin

"Agulhas" means "needles" in Portuguese—named by early Portuguese sailors (like Bartolomeu Dias) due to the needle-like rocks and their compasses showing true north with no deviation in the area.

Maritime History

The waters off Cape Agulhas are notoriously dangerous, with over 150 shipwrecks recorded in the region since the 1500s. The Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, built in 1849, was the third lighthouse in South Africa and played a key role in safer navigation.
